Robinhood Is Adding a Route, Not a Single Venue
Robinhood Wallet can compare available routes when a user requests a Stock Token swap. If Arcus supplies the selected execution, its request-for-quote system asks professional market makers to compete for that trade rather than drawing against one passive liquidity pool.
The RFQ design is intended to concentrate pricing competition at the moment of execution. Arcus says it can support tighter spreads across a long list of instruments without requiring every token to maintain a deep automated market-maker pool around the clock.
There is still a delivery distinction behind the simple swap interface. Arcus explains that a trade price may be fixed before the token arrives onchain, with delivery typically taking several minutes when a market maker needs to source inventory. That is different from a conventional equity exchange, where execution, clearing and final securities settlement are separate regulated processes.
The Tokens Provide Exposure Without Shareholder Rights
Stock Tokens provide economic exposure through a contractual claim against an issuer for cash redemption. They do not give the holder legal or beneficial ownership of the underlying company, voting rights or the same direct claim enjoyed by a registered shareholder.
That distinction has already become part of the regulatory debate around tokenised equities. FinanceFeeds examined the issue when AMC challenged the treatment of Robinhood-linked Stock Tokens and when Robinhood expanded its European token catalogue toward 500 assets.
Arcus is also not a regulated financial-services provider, according to its own disclosure. Access is unavailable in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and other restricted markets, so the phrase global trading describes the product schedule rather than universal legal availability.
Arcus Has Grown Beyond Its First 95 Markets
Arcus reports more than $5 billion in cumulative volume across spot and perpetual markets, more than 15,000 unique traders and peak daily volume above $500 million. It also reports more than $28 million in total value locked, while its Stock Token list has grown from about 90 instruments at launch to more than 190.
FinanceFeeds covered the first stage when Arcus introduced tokenised stocks and perpetual futures. The new Wallet integration matters because it places Arcus liquidity behind a Robinhood interface rather than requiring every user to discover and access the exchange directly.
The route also arrives as Robinhood Chain attempts to convert network activity into sustained use of financial products. Early volume was heavily influenced by memecoins, as shown when memecoin trading outweighed Stock Token activity, although tokenised assets later gained a larger share of volume.
Points Add an Incentive to the Routing Decision
Users whose Wallet swaps execute through Arcus may receive Arcus Points, and eligible Wallet activity can receive a higher allocation than comparable spot trades submitted directly through Arcus. Limit orders will be available through the Arcus application inside Robinhood Wallet’s decentralised-app browser rather than as a native Wallet order type.
The incentive may help Arcus attract order flow, but execution quality remains the more important test. Traders need to compare the final price, spread, delivery time and token structure, while Robinhood must show that routing among providers improves outcomes rather than merely distributing rewards.
Robinhood Chain now connects Stock Tokens with decentralised exchanges, lending applications and other onchain services, a structure detailed in FinanceFeeds’ guide to Robinhood Chain. Arcus gives that network another execution source, but the long-term value will depend on repeat Stock Token flow after points and launch incentives become less influential.
Round-the-Clock Trading Changes the Source of the Price
A token can trade on a weekend even though the referenced US share cannot. During that period, market makers are pricing the expected reopening level, news risk, hedging cost and their ability to offset inventory rather than responding to a live price on the primary equity exchange.
That can widen spreads or create a temporary difference between the token and the last official share price. The difference is not automatically an arbitrage because the underlying market may be closed, token redemption may be limited and a hedge may not be available until the next equity session.
The RFQ model can help by asking several firms to price the same request, but competition does not remove the structural gap. Users should treat 24-hour access as the ability to transfer risk outside exchange hours, not as proof that liquidity and reference-price quality remain constant throughout the week.
Robinhood Wallet also has to make the selected route understandable after execution. A useful confirmation would show the provider, quoted amount, final amount received and any period before full onchain delivery. That information would let users compare Arcus with alternative routes on execution rather than assuming that a zero-fee claim means the trade had no spread, slippage or settlement cost.
Token availability creates another difference from a brokerage account. A user can hold the token in a self-custodied wallet and interact with compatible applications, but private-key security and smart-contract risk then sit beside issuer and market risk. The broader utility is part of the product’s attraction, while the additional failure points explain why the token should not be described as a share placed on a blockchain.
